About Catharsis

1

We train individuals to run with the Holy Spirit, to possess excellence in craft, and to apply creativity and maturity to their worship.

We believe this can only be done through a foundation and personal revelation of emotional healing within the individual, and a revolution within the body of the church body. We have three focus points: emotional healing, spiritual growth and maturity, and pursuit of excellence through improving skills, techniques, and training.

2

Students will be provided with regular opportunities to meet with mentors and counselors. Emotional health will be pursued through deliverance and counseling, fathering, pastoring, and the support of community.

3

Tabernacle Worship & Prophetic Classes offer students an opportunity to grow skills in the supernatural and the prophetic, and important skill for intercessory and worship artists.

4

Creative Foundations classes train students in creativity. They will teach how to grow and refine skills through a conceptual and psychological lens.

5

Theory & Technique courses provide students with a depth in craft and technical knowledge that will allow them to pursue greater levels of creativity and excellence in their art.

Catharsis

a: purification or purgation of the emotions primarily through art.

b: a purification or purgation that brings about spiritual renewal or release from tension.

Catharsis is an utter and complete transformation, to the extent that absolutely nothing from the original source remains in the final product.

Spiritually and artistically we contend for a creative revolution that will transform the individual, reform the church, and prepare the way for the Tabernacle of David to be restored.

About Austin

Austin Biel is a contender for the creative renaissance, worship artist, multi-instrumentalist, speaker/teacher, mentor, and record producer, based in the Austin Texas area. In ministry and music since 1989, Austin has traveled the world speaking at worship conferences, teaching at worship schools, and preaching the message of creativity in the Holy Spirit in churches and prayer rooms. His service to other ministries include 10-years traveling with Benny Hinn Ministries, staff positions at Lakewood Church, and Second Baptist Church of Houston, as well as consulting and serving with many other churches & Christian Universities across denominations.

As a professional musician, he has played with major jazz/pop artists like Al Jarreau, Yolanda Adams, Regina Belle, Chris Walker, and numerous major gospel artists, including  Ron Kenoly, Ingrid Rosario, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Clement, and others. His producer credits include over 100 projects to date and he trained young producers in the craft with MediaTech Institute for 3 years.

Pursuing the restoration of the Tabernacle of David, through a school for worship and arts, which Austin has carried a vision for over 20 years, has brought him and his family to the Austin area. The focus of Catharsis Worship School is to raise up creative and spiritual artists trained to find their ultimate artistic expression in the Spirit, and host His Presence wherever they go, while the Tabernacle can be the canvas for these artists to create and develop. Currently, Austin is training people through online courses, in-person classes, and one-on-one mentoring, as well as traveling to speak/teach in worship conferences, lead worship, train worship teams. Occasionally, he enjoys playing with Fletch Wiley and JJ Placensios in the jazz group Certain Wonder, and as a sideman to worship leaders Rick Pino, Leonard Jones, and Jeremy Burk, and others.

His passion is to ignite a renewal of creativity & art within the worship community, finding our ultimate expression in the Spirit; to raise up an army of prophetic intercessory warrior artists in these end times.

“You are not a musician first; you are an artist first. You were created to create. Your creativity is designed to be co-creating with the Creator.”

– Austin Biel

Our Friends Say Nice Things

My friend Austin is carrying something special for this generation. The restored Tabernacle of David will be at the forefront of the last days harvest, and Austin is at the forefront of that restoration. He is a “chief musician” whose humility shines through his worship. It is with joy that I recommend him to you!

I have used Austin Biel on many engagements and in many different settings and he’s always been a delight to work with. Austin is one of those musicians that continuously surprises me, it seems his knowledge of his instruments, music and worship, have no bounds.

He is also one of the best teachers I’ve ever known and able to impart very complicated and deep truths in a very understandable manner. He is an aggressive instrumentalist as well as an aggressive worshiper.

I wholeheartedly endorse his ministry and his lifestyle.

If “worship leading” had a guild, [Austin Biel] would be considered a master craftsman. His love for God, ability to lead and support, creativity and facility set him apart. I watched Austin work with students at the Levite Praise Institute at Herrnhut and recognized the marks of a master teacher. He has a mastery of his subject and an innate capacity to connect with each student. The students looked forward to being with him in class, in workshop settings and one-on-one. As a foundational teacher he is an accessible role model who leads by example. He establishes a relational environment that encourages a hopeful expectation of growth, continually providing a rationale for acquiring skill as he trains students how to learn and inspires them to achieve. You are making a wise choice if you bring Austin in to lead worship or train worship leaders.

I’m frustrated with this endorsement. The frustrating part is trying to communicate the importance of Austin’s message and the uniqueness of the instrument that carries it. He is incredibly talented, sincerely passionate, and he is contagious. His music and his message affects everyone in the room. So does his heart. His depth in the word is reflected in his worship. Nuff Said…
